What can you do during your stay at camping L’Orée des Boires?

Welcome to Orée d’Anjou, a little corner of paradise where nature and heritage combine to offer you an unforgettable stay. An ideal base on the edge of the GR3, the Via Ligéria and a number of nature trails, it’s sure to win over those who love the great outdoors. There’s so much more to discover just a short walk from the campsite!

Walks along the Loire: The wild river at your feet

Because it’s a bit of a star in the region: stroll along France’s largest river and let yourself be charmed by the bucolic, soothing landscapes around the Loire, home to a wealth of flora and fauna. Ideal for photography enthusiasts or those who simply like to take the time to stroll through the countryside and breathe in the fresh air: it’s time to put on your best walking shoes! To plunge into the heart of Anjou, set off on the ‘Loire et Vignoble’ trail directly from Drain, where you’ll be able to admire pretty landscapes covered in vines and colourful panoramas along the banks of the Loire. The route is 18.7km long and takes around 4hrs 40mins (bring a picnic!).

Discovering the boires... of the Loire!

Welcome to the banks of the boires de Loire, a poetic name for these small side arms of the Loire, which are home to a rich biodiversity and offer lovely views from the air. Leaving from the campsite, you’ll have the opportunity to walk along a number of paths that wind around these boires. In a way, they are the hidden face of the Loire. Colourful landscapes that change with the seasons, while retaining the wild spirit of the banks of the Loire. On this route, walk along the Nigaudière and Rompure boires (which borders the campsite). You’ll also be able to admire the meadows that surround the campsite, in an unspoilt rural setting. It’s a short walk of an hour and 2.5km, ideal for a family outing. Ready for a nature break?

The vineyards of Anjou - A terroir to be savoured without moderation (or almost)

Because they won’t go unnoticed on your itinerary: it’s impossible to come here without stopping off at the heart of the vineyards and tasting the delicious local wines, whose grape varieties will speak for themselves even overseas. Stop off at a winegrower’s for a tasting and leave with a good bottle (or two, no judging!). From white to red to rosé: there’s something for everyone! From AOC Coteaux d’Ancenis Malvoisie to Muscadet Coteaux de la Loire, Anjou and Crémant, your taste buds will be in for a treat… Come and share your passion for wine with these passionate people, who will tell you more about their trade than we can

A day in Ancenis: A dynamic town on the banks of the Loire

With its pretty historic centre, charming little streets and friendly market, Ancenis is a must, just 4 kilometres from the campsite. Make a day of it and stroll along the quays. In terms of heritage, discover the church of Saint-Pierre and the sublime Château d’Ancenis, with its two imposing towers and Renaissance dwelling. It’s a fun outing that will delight young and old alike! For a breath of fresh air, head to the Ile Mouchet, a 3km walk that’s great for birdwatching! Feeling hungry? Take a gourmet break in one of the town’s many cafés and restaurants and sample the local specialities.

A cruise on a traditional boat cruise on the Loire, just like in the old days!

Climb aboard a gabare, a traditional flat-bottomed boat on the Loire, departing from Saint-Florent-le-Vieil and let yourself be carried along by the current. It’s the ideal way to enjoy the beautiful panoramas, but from a completely different angle! A unique blend of unspoilt nature and river heritage. Ideal for a relaxing getaway with family or friends. Villages of character: between strolling and local discoveries

If you’re looking for an authentic coastline to complete your stay, be sure to stop off in the small villages of Anjou, which are as picturesque as they are pleasant. Among them is Saint-Florent-le-Vieil, a village steeped in history just 20 minutes from the campsite. Perched high above the Loire, it’s a veritable nugget of local produce. Stroll through its cobbled streets, visit the Maurist Abbey and climb up to the belvedere for an exceptional view of the river. The town was also a hotbed of the Vendée War, and you’ll be able to see some of the monuments that remain, as well as the museum that recounts the history of this chapter. A little further afield, stop off to visit Montjean-sur-Loire, an authentic village and former bargemen’s port. Enjoy a stroll along the water with your family, between historic quays and fishermen’s houses. Visit Cap Loire, a space dedicated to the history of river shipping and the traditional boats of the Loire. You’re sure to catch a glimpse of the metal bridge from which the views are breathtaking!

An immersive day with wildlife: welcome to Zoo de la Boissière!

Just 15 minutes from the campsite, the Zoo de la Boissière-du-Doré promises an unforgettable encounter with no fewer than 1,200 animals from the four corners of the globe. Explore the grounds and meet majestic lions, elegant giraffes, touching red pandas and an immersive aviary for a magical family experience (don’t be afraid of the birds, it’s preferable). This zoo is also committed to species conservation! So, are you ready for a day in the great outdoors?

Terra Botanica: a veritable journey through plants and a whole host of sensations

If you’re looking for variety, Terra Botanica is the place to go for a day out with the whole family! Just 45 minutes from the campsite, discover Europe’s first theme park dedicated to the plant world (because you love nature!). This park takes you on an immersive, sensory experience. Explore the exotic gardens, climb aboard a walnut shell for a ride on the water or fly over the canopy in a hot-air balloon. Little adventurers will be delighted. Between tropical greenhouses, fun areas and interactive activities, young and old alike will enjoy a family day out in the heart of plants!

Haven’t had time to see everything? No problem, we offer you the opportunity to continue your journey along the Route touristique des Vins d’Anjou (because yes, you never get tired of these beautiful landscapes) and put your bags down at the campsite… Les Grenettes, at the foot of the vineyards (15 minutes from the campsite)! This charming little campsite with 20 natural pitches is located on the Loire à Vélo cycle route (1h15 by bike from Nantes) and is a little corner of paradise for cyclists looking for serenity and a touch of comfort to recharge their batteries before continuing their journey. The road leading to Les Grenettes offers lovely views of the surrounding countryside.
